Can Prenatal Vitamins Improve Fertility?

August 10th, 2010

Prenatal vitamins have been used for their many benefits. They are obviously healthy when pregnant, and some would suggest that any woman who is of childbearing age and sexually active start taking one! Obviously, even in the first few weeks of conception, you need these vitamins. But most do not necessarily know that they are pregnant until later. But they also say that it’s better to take prenatal vitamins for at least a few weeks before conception! But there are some who worry for obvious reasons about the other effects of prenatal vitamins.

There are some who want it to increase fertility, and there are others who worry that prenatal vitamins will actually increase the fertility rate, even if you are taking birth control. When it comes to prenatal vitamins, you will find that they do not actually have this effect. They are simple vitamins, and they have never been known to contribute to or cause pregnancy.

Even if you are not pregnant, the vitamins in prenatal vitamins can help you to get some of the vitamins that your body may be missing. Of course, if you are pregnant, it will help you to take care of the baby and naturally prevent many common birth defects. And some would also say that it can help you to naturally improve the condition of hair, skin, and nails. But it will not increase natural fertility or cause pregnancy. This being said, I would strongly recommend that women take prenatal vitamins for various other benefits, not just benefits to the baby.
